Lynsey Mallinson

I’m an authorised civil celebrant, a qualified and experienced civil celebrant (NOCN Level 3 Diploma in Celebrancy: Naming and Couples (RQF)) and funeral celebrant (Level 3 Diploma in Funeral Celebrancy), able to create and conduct a whole range of ceremonies for special occasions.

I can deliver legal civil marriage and conversion to marriage ceremonies as well as a variety of non legal couple and naming ceremonies and civil funerals or celebration of life ceremonies.

As a former BBC journalist, I'm a skilled public speaker and copywriter and every ceremony I deliver is professionally written and conducted.

Whether you want something simple or traditional or something more unusual and quirky, I can help you plan a ceremony individual to you, so it’s exactly how you want it to be.

MY CEREMONIES

The civil ceremonies I offer are driven by your wishes, beliefs and values and I’ll work with you in order to make your occasion as personal and memorable as it can be.

Content can be finely tailored to match your wishes and I’ll prepare a script for you to review beforehand. Each ceremony is unique to you and your occasion and can be made up of as many different components as you’d like.

You may want something nature-based, spiritual and more Pagan-like, you might want some religious content and you may not. Music might feature, as well as other symbolic actions such as hand fasting, candle lighting, sand pouring, tree planting, or balloon releasing. Poetry and readings can be included and read by me, family members or friends or prepared by you for me to read on your behalf.

With the exception of churches, chapels, synagogues and mosques, civil ceremonies can be held wherever you want (as long as you have permission) at a private home, indoors or outdoors.

Civil marriage or conversion to marriage ceremonies need to be held at the Office of the Superintendent Registrar or at a venue with an approved marriage licence. There are also more specific requirements for these legal ceremonies in terms of how and when these take place but I can guide you through the finer details.

Couple Ceremonies

Marking a union of love should be something personal, unique and special to you and a civil ceremony ensures this. With my help, you can create the most appropriate and meaningful ceremony tailored for you.

I can conduct a range of ceremonies for you and your partner whether it be a wedding celebration, same sex/civil partnershipcommitment or vow renewal ceremony. And I can offer a nature-based handfasting ceremony for couples looking for something more spiritual or Pagan-like.

Naming Ceremonies

Naming ceremonies can be a great way to welcome new children into the family, whether they are babies or older, or step, foster or adopted children.

Nature-based naming ceremonies are also be suitable for young adults and adults, if something more spiritual or Pagan-like is wanted.

Celebration of life Ceremonies

A celebration of life, or a civil funeral is an alternative to a more traditional funeral service incorporating a little, or no, religion or other spiritual and symbolic elements, as desired.
